On 18 February 2026, BirdLife Malta welcomed residents of Government care homes and day centres to Salina Nature Reserve for a special morning as part of ROOTED. Participants enjoyed meditation, crafts and birdwatching while exploring the reserve together. The Parliamentary Secretary for Active Ageing joined the group, met the participants and took part in the activities alongside them. BirdLife Malta’s March 2026 newsletter describes it as the second ROOTED event focused on inclusion, aiming to connect older generations with nature through shared experiences.
